Our walks and Covid 19

As the RULE of SIX has come into force last Monday we are aware that it will be tough for everybody.

However, if you see our groups out and about please rest assured that it is not a bunch of people disregarding the COVID group rules but a professionally organised, OUTDOOR EXERCISE session with strict COVID 19 protocols in place. Our groups are usually small, with a maximum of 12 participans.

During our walks, we advise all our members to remember social distancing guidelines, advising everyone to stay 2 pole lengths apart if possible.

All our sessions are listed on Meetup, and our members sign up in advance. We make sure our sessions are being conducted in a COVID 19 secure manner.

Exercise is vital as part of our fight against COVID 19 and our groups are lead by a fully qualified Instructor who are trained to help people gain and maintain all aspects of fitness in safe but sociable groups.

The measures we have in place are very comprehensive and include:-

Booking in advance: All participants MUST register and have completed a health screening which includes COVID 19 questions.

This booking system also enables us to work with NHS track and Trace to immediately identify who has walked with with anyone who may subsequently show symptoms.

On walks, we remain 2 metres apart and we ensure that our walkers are aware of ‘droplet spread’ when interacting with other walkers.

We are insured for a group size of up to 30, but we maintain a maximum group size of 12 walkers.

As a COVID secure business, delivering EXERCISE the Govt guidelines state that it is acceptable to exceed the RULE OF SIX see point 2.10 in the Guidance FAQs WHAT YOU CAN and CAN’T DO

We do not advise masks to be worn during exercise in accordance with WHO guidelines. However, all participants are asked to carry hand sanitiser and use it after touching any gates or railings etc. en route. The walk leader will also bring hand sanitiser.

All routes are risk assessed to avoid busy areas, contact with other members of the public/exercisers and ‘pinch points where distancing is not possible. As mentioned above all routes and locations are risk assessed in accordance with safe group size.

Most regular users use their own poles or equipment and where equipment is used for TUITION purposes, it is thoroughly cleaned and if necessary put into quarantine for 72 hours.

SO…………

Our groups will look they are out having fun (because exercise can be fun) but we are also providing the mood boosting effects of being outdoors with nature and helping people avoid isolation – we take health and wellbeing seriously and would not put anyone at risk

Finally, we do appreciate some people are not comfortable with heading out in a group so we support them virtually as well via our on line exercise sessions.
