Saturday 2 March: Join us for a walk along the river Pinner

Join us on this lovely waterside walk following the River Pinn from Pinner tube station to the Grand Union Canal by Cowley in west London.
We will walk through green spaces, conservation areas and wildlife havens, and will keep an eye out for flora and fauna on the walk including Kingfishers and Tree creepers and the Lesser Celandine flowers after which today’s walk is named.

We will walk at our usual pleasant pace, so don’t expect a super-fast walk.

These early spring days, when the days are still too short, it is even more important to spend time in nature, get plenty of daylight and enjoy the friendship and company of others. So, come on a walk with us – we promise we will help you feel absolutely fabulous, both mentally and physically!

Will you join us on this walk?

How to get there:

We will meet 9.30 am by the Bakerloo line tube entrance at Elephant and Castle. From there, we will take the Bakerloo line to Baker street, from where we can hop on the Metropolitan line to Pinner.

If you prefer, you could also meet us at 10.30 am at Pinner tube station.

Our walk ends by West Drayton Railway station, from where we can get a train back to Paddington station for the Bakerloo line.

Terrain and length of the route:

The walk is around 12 miles, but if you prefer a shorter walk, then you could bail out at Hillingdon Station or Ruislip station and make your way back home from there.
It is early March, so puddles and mud can be expected. Please bring good footwear.

Toilets, food/drinks & what to bring:

I suggest we bring a pick-nick and enjoy our lunch outside, but if the weather isn’t attractive enough to eat outside, there are some places we can stop along the way.
Don’t forget to bring something to drink.

There aren’t too many public toilets, but there some pubs and cafes where we could make a quick stop if needed.

This walk will happen in any weather, unless it is unsafe, so bring your waterproofs and (preferably waterproof) shoes with a good grippy profile.

Who can join?

Anyone who can comfortably walk 12 miles (or is happy to make their own way home from one of the stations close to the route.

Feel free to bring a friend or family member, with or without poles. Nordic Walkers or not, that doesn’t matter, as long as they are Fit (enough) and Happy! 😊
